"Tales of In-Between"
with the AION Band -
Christian Berger, Thomas Küng, Jürg Surber, Dominic Doppler
(near the boat landing in Weggis)
at the pavilion by the lake
'Tales of In-Between' is
the title of the AION concert at the so-called „Pavillon am See“
(„gazebo at the lake“). The creative quartet takes its audiences on a
journey into the realms between styles. The music of composer, guitarist
and oud player Christian Berger moves between the soundscapes of
oriental music, chamber musical ideas and improvised music. The lovingly
arranged themes are catchy and are developed and interwoven live with
the freedom of improvisation. Individual pieces thus turn into sound
journeys. They take the audience out into the world - and back to
themselves. The melancholy of the oud, the Arabic lute, characterizes
the soundscape, as do the melody lines of Thomas Küng on soprano
saxophone or flugelhorn. Dominic Doppler creates a groovy and colorfully
rhythmic world on the extended drums, which, together with the bass
lines of Jürg Surber on the double bass, form the dynamic foundation of
AION's music.
