Human beings live under the constant influence of gravity and one of the reasons we work on a bodywork table is, in essence, that the use of the table and the supine position semi-neutralises the force of gravity on the body. However, the human body evolved in the active field of gravity and indeed many functions in the body are what could be called ‘gravity dependent,’ and whilst a degree of freedom from this powerful force during a session is a valuable approach, actually working with the client as they dynamically interact with gravity can provide a deeper level of freedom.

True gravity is a universal force, an ethical imperative and an overwhelming spiritual experience

Practical skills taught:
  • The 12 states of attention as a process to enhance body reading and hands on skills
  • The Celtic Cross Oscillation exercise in both self-directed and facilitated modes
  • Dynamically interacting with the five physical keystone structures in the body. A keystone structure is an architectural concept applied to the human body. In essence a keystone is wedge-shaped structure at the apex any arch or vault that locks all other components into place, enabling the structure to bear weight. The sacrum is considered the primary keystone in the human body but there are 4 others and their dynamic integration can provide unique benefit at physical, energetic and psychological levels.

In this seminar we will explore working in the field of gravity both in the sitting and standing positions as well as working with the five keystone structures in the body. We will also delve into the energetic and psychological dimensions of the standing posture, in particular as it relates to our personal 'identity statement' in the world by viewing the body from the side and looking at the major cavities of the body as they are called in Chinese medicine (San Jiao - Triple heater System) or oval fields as they are referred to in Polarity Therapy.

Open to any bodywork practitioner.
